Dennis Pruss
Candidate—At-Large Seat,
Dennis Pruss is a candidate for an “at-large” seat on the Lubbock Independent School District Board of Trustees for the 2006 election. Pruss was born and raised in Kaycee, Wyoming. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree and teaching certification from Utah State University in Logan, Utah in 1977. In ’78 he earned a Master of Science degree from the University of Arizona in Tucson, Arizona. He then joined the teaching ranks as a health teacher and athletic trainer for Lubbock Dunbar High School in Lubbock, Texas later that year. He left in 1980 to become an athletic trainer for Texas Tech University where he also served the school as an instructor in the Physical Education Department. He left Texas Tech in ’88 and joined the staff at Lubbock Monterey High School where he served as a health teacher and athletic trainer for four years. After leaving Monterey, Pruss became part-owner and manager of Lubbock Sports Rehabilitation and he also re-joined the Texas Tech University staff as a part-time instructor. As a member of the Southwest Athletic Trainers Association (covering Texas and Arkansas) he served as Second Vice-President, First-Vice President, President and Past President of the organization. He currently is part-owner and manager of Sports & Industrial Rehab Center of Lubbock. And as a member of First United Methodist Church in Lubbock has served on the Staff/Parish Relations and Budget committees. Pruss currently serves as chairman of the Finance committee for First UMC and is a former chairman of the Budget committee. His wife, Donna, is Office Manager of Retail Merchants Association of Lubbock, and the Pruss’ have two grown daughters, Robin and Doneece.
