It's sad, but true...some parents abuse their children and it happens in some homes right here in Lubbock.
That's why CASA of the South Plains gathered at the Lubbock County Courthouse Friday. The organization is made up of volunteers who represent abused children in court. Last year, they helped more than 1,000 Lubbock area children. That's a statistic they would like you to keep in mind all through April.
CASA Executive Director Amy Paiva says, "April is the time that we recognize and remember the children who have been abused in our community."
South Plains mall will donate all of the change tossed into the grand court fountain in April to CASA.
