Construction will effect drivers in West Lubbock this weekend. Traffic changes will take place on Highway 114 from Milwaukee to Alcove. The changes will take place through the weekend with the first traffic switch occurring on Saturday morning and the last switch late Sunday evening.
On Saturday, the Texas Department of Transportation will shift Highway 114 westbound lanes from the south side of the road to the new pavement on the north side. The eastbound lanes will stay on the south side of the road until crews can relocate the median ramps and make room for an additional lane on the north side. Until the ramps are relocated, westbound and eastbound traffic will be divided.
Crews will work Saturday and Sunday to move the median ramps to make room on the north side so eastbound traffic can be switched before work begins Monday morning.
Crews will also be working on Saturday at the intersection of Upland and Highway 114. North and southbound traffic could be detoured for most of the day. Drivers are encouraged to drive slowly and use caution when traveling through construction zones. If possible, use an alternate route.
The Highway 114 project is a $17.8 million rehabilitation project that is scheduled for completion in the spring of 2007.
