They're used to cell phones, midnight snacks and warm blankets, but for 30 hours, two dozen college students will go without for a good cause.
Students from Texas Tech and Lubbock Christian Universities are participating in a Shack-A-Thon. It's hosted by Cross Campus Student Ministries. They are sleeping in cardboard boxes and spending 30-hours in a homeless simulation at the corner of 19th and University.
The students hope to bring awareness and compassion to the homeless. They also hope to raise money for Hurricane Katrina victims so they can travel to New Orleans and help with clean up on Memorial Day weekend.
