A popular contact lens solution comes with a warning Monday.
FDA officials posted a statement on its web site warning of a potential eye fungus called Fusarium in the product called Renu. As soon as the warning was issued, Bausch and Lomb, the maker of Renu, stopped shipments nationwide.
So far, the CDC has identified 109 cases of the infection. In 26 of those cases, consumers used Renu Moisture-Loc contact lens solution or some generic brand made by the same company.
Bausch and Lomb says it doesn't believe its lens care products are at the root of the infection. Even so, the company is cooperating with the FDA as it investigates.
