Erin Nicole Reagan is facing a criminal trial. Late Tuesday afternoon, a Lubbock grand jury indicted the 20-year-old for intoxicated manslaughter. She's accused of killing 21-year-old Amber Menefee of Andrews. NewsChannel 11's Jennifer Vogel has been following this story since February and explains what will happen next.
It took two months for this case to hit the grand jury because the DA's office needed to wait on all the evidence, like blood alcohol tests, and autopsy reports before presenting the case. Police say Reagan was driving her SUV the wrong way on Loop 289 near 34th when she hit Menefee. Blood alcohol tests confirm that Reagan's blood alcohol level was twice the legal limit. If convicted, Reagan faces a maximum 20 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
TABC is still trying to figure out where Regan got the alcohol since she is only 20-years-old. We spoke with them on Tuesday and they say the investigation is ongoing.
