Learning Bird Watching Techniques

If you are a nature lover, you don't have to go any further than your back yard. Wednesday NewsChannel 11's Suleika Acosta spent the morning at the Texas Tech Museum learning the art of bird watching.

Patrice Fay, education specialist, tells us the best time to bird watch is sunrise or sunset. Binoculars or a telescope will allow easy viewing. Patrice say birds visit feeders most often in the early morning, and again just before dusk. They use feeders less often in the afternoon and during rainy weather.

The Museum of Texas Tech will sponsor a free backyard birding workshop for kids on Saturday April 22nd from 1 p.m. - 3 p.m. Children will learn to build bird feeder and a birdhouse. The workshop will also include a brief bird-watching session on the museum grounds. Pre-registration is required. Please call for more information, (806) 742-2432.
