Landfill Fire Continues To Burn - KCBD NewsChannel 11 Lubbock

A fire at the city landfill may send smoke drifting back to Lubbock.

The fire began around 3:30 Monday afternoon. Investigators believe hot equipment may have ignited a wood fire, which then spread to the landfill. Firefighters from Lubbock, New Deal, Shallowater and Abernathy all responded to the blaze.

According Lieutenant Mark Ethridge, firefighters will continue extinguishing hot spots for several days to come.
