Dump your trash illegally and you will be charged...that's the message from Lubbock County authorities.
A Lubbock County grand jury indicted 43-year-old Terry Cook for illegal dumping Tuesday. Authorities found trash and junk when they came to Cook's home near Shallowater. You may remember, Cook is also charged with four counts of animal cruelty. But now it's the trash and illegal dumping that authorities are warning all citizens about.
Illegal dumping could be anything over 1,000 pounds of garbage or junk vehicles and any junk larger than 200-cubic feet. Environmental Investigation Officer Cynthia Metsgar says, "I'm fixing to start cracking down really hard on these people who continuously pile up trash."
If you are convicted of illegal dumping, you could face up to two years in prison or a $10,000.
