Hospice of Lubbock is all set for its largest fundraiser of the year, the 17th Annual Mayors' Beans & Cornbread Luncheon on Friday, April 28 at the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center Banquet Hall. The performers who will be entertaining the crowd are: Jordan Sheets, Billy McClaran, Cami Caldwell, David Guidice, Mary Fletcher, Kristi Clanton, Junior Vasquez, Butch Avery, Brandon Gwinn and Kenny Maines. Jane Prince-Jones and Rick Gilbert of KQBR.FM (The Bear) will emcee the event with Miss Hispanic Lubbock, Amberly Gomez, in attendance. Paul Corcorran of River Smith's will be the chief cook.
Starting at 11 am and going until 1:30 pm, beans, cornbread, desserts and drinks will be served buffet-style while the music plays. A new "twist" to the menu this year will be Klemke's sausages (the famous Raider Alley's) will be sold for an additional donation of $1. So add a link, for a buck, and help Hospice of Lubbock at the same time.
Great door prizes and special silent auction items are available for winning and bidding. Tickets ($10) can be purchased at the door or by calling Hospice of Lubbock (795-2751). The event is a "come and go" affair, however most attendees come and stay! This event serves to assist Hospice of Lubbock in raising funds for its non-funded and under funded hospice patients and families.
Hospice of Lubbock is the region's only non-profit adult and pediatric hospice and has never turned away any hospice appropriate patient for lack of funds. Hospice of Lubbock was Lubbock's first hospice and has served Lubbock and the surrounding 18 counties since 1987.
