Dozens gathered on the courthouse lawn Thursday to take part in the National Day of Prayer.
City leaders, pastors and Lubbock residents sang and prayed for our nation, and our local community. "We encourage all Lubbock citizens to observe this day, which we have come together to realize the importance and significance of prayer," City Councilman Gary Boren said.
Immediately following that event, many city leaders gathered at the Lone Star Amphitheater for a luncheon honoring Lubbock Mayor Marc McDougal. It was the Lubbock Hispanic Chamber's way of thanking the mayor for all his years of public service.
