Senator Duncan Proposes Uniform School Start Date

State senators are considering a uniform start date for all Texas public schools. Under the current law, schools cannot start earlier than the week of August 21st unless they get a waiver.

Senator Robert Duncan proposed a measure that would make the fourth Monday in August, the first day of school for everyone. He says that would allow schools to save money on utilities and give families more vacation time.
