A Lubbock mother and her two children are safe and police say properly installed car seats are the only reason why. Their mini van balanced on a guardrail along North Loop 289 Friday morning. That's where it ended up, after being struck by a sport utility vehicle. The Ford Explorer was headed westbound, when it lost control, and crossed the median into oncoming traffic. It slammed into the minivan, causing it to roll several times.
Donna Hillis and her two daughters were taken to Covenant as a precaution. The driver of the Explorer was not injured.
