If you have to get sick on vacation, it would at least be more convenient in the Washington D.C. Area.
That's because emergency doctors at George Washington hospital are making house calls in hotels. They did a little survey and found that 18 percent of their patients were from out of town. So, now tourists don't have to worry about finding a clinic when someone in the family turns up sick. They just call for an 'inn house' doctor.
"We can provide a service in their room, very quickly, usually within an hour, and can get them to enjoy the rest of their stay, " says Dr. Neal Sikka.
The house doctors the doctors are available 24-7 to hotels in DC, Maryland and Virginia. And they travel with medical bags stocked with supplies to take care of some of the most common problems everything from dehydration to infections and aches and pains.
Hotel guests pay out of pocket for the service but they can submit the claim to their insurance company.
