Their research says it's not the gas you buy or the car you drive, of course that helps, but it's your driving habits. By changing just a few of those habits you can improve fuel economy up to 37% right away. Sometimes it's as easy as turning your car off.

* Tip 1 - Not only is it convenient, using your cruise control is surprisingly an effective way to save gas. Actually up to 14% savings. So if you've got it, use it.

* Tip 2 - Set that cruise control to the speed limit and you'll see a substantial savings on long trips. Excessive speed burns more fuel, so if you're going the speed limit not only will you steer clear of a ticket, you'll see a savings of up to 14% as well.

* Tip 3 - When you're not driving turn off your car. Avoiding excessive idling can save up to 19%. So if you're stopping longer than a minute - shut it down.

* Tip 4 - Now on to the one tip, that alone can save you unbelievable amounts of gas. Practice moderate driving and don't be aggressive on the road. It's as simple as this: Don't mash the gas when you start up and easily press on the break when you slow down. Tests show if you slow your 0-to-60-mph acceleration time down to a pace of 15%, you'll feel the savings immediately - up to 37% savings.

Now on to some not so effective gas saving tips.
