A former Lubbock teacher is in custody. She was booked into the Lubbock County Jail just before 10 p.m. Wednesday night. On Tuesday, a Lubbock County Grand Jury indicted her for theft by a public servant. She is accused of stealing more than $20,000 from Dunbar Middle School students.
The money was supposed to pay for a trip to New York City for fifty-one students. Investigators say she used the money for car payments, shopping and other deposits into her personal account.
She's also accused of using the money to put a down payment on a Ford Mustang. Police found Terrance King driving that car. King was also indicted for theft.
