It's happening all across the country and Thursday it happened right here in Lubbock. It's a jury duty scam. It starts with a bogus phone call. The caller says you've missed jury duty and a warrant is out for your arrest. Personal information, such as your social security number or a credit card number is then demanded.
If you happen to answer a call, just like this, here's what you should do. Lubbock County Director of Court Administration David Slayton advises, " Number one is hang up. Then call police and call jury pool and let them know about it."
To alert the central jury office about one of these phone calls, call (806) 775-1369.
