Eight citizens are calling on Lubbock City Council to improve the tennis courts at the Burgess-Rushing community center. Sindee Simon says, "Right now, we don't have the best tennis facility. Amarillo and Abilene both have much better facilities and they are both much smaller communities and have less tennis players."
The tennis center, located at 3030 66th St. is expected to receive some funding from a bond package passed in 2004. However, the group says if more improvements are made, Lubbock could host tournaments that attract hundreds of players which they say would benefit our local economy.
