Open your mailbox this week and you'll most likely find your property appraisal. 66,000 appraisal notices went out in the mail Monday and another 15,000 will be mailed within the next three weeks.
Overall, the Lubbock Central Appraisal District estimates the value of all taxable property in Lubbock is up 11.2 %. For homeowners, the estimated average increase is 6%. If you disagree with your appraisal, you can protest.
Chief Appraiser Dave Kimbrough says you must contact the office in person or by phone. Kimbrough advises homeowners to, "Explain their circumstances and have any facts or information or concerns about their market value of their property and we'll be glad to consider anything they have."
The Lubbock Central Appraisal District is located at 1715 26th Street or you can call 762-5000, extension 502. Protest hearings will begin June 7th.
