FDA officials say it's o-k to claim the grain! In other words if a product includes whole grain barley, flakes, grits, flour and barley meal, the manufacturer can say that it will reduce your risk of heart disease.

But on one condition, the FDA says the company must put on the label somewhere that you also need a diet low in saturated fat and cholesterol to get the full benefit.
