You might have heard there are two confirmed cases of mumps in Amarillo. They are not connected to the outbreak in the midwest.
The CDC says they have recorded 26 hundred cases this year in 11 states, with more than half in Iowa. That is a big concern. But Doug McBride at the Texas Department of Health says we get about 20 cases a year in Texas. So far this year, we have eight.
So, Texas has not been affected by the mumps outbreak in the midwest...yet.
