Kids of all ages can look forward to spending their summers swimming, because starting Friday most city pools will be open! The city wants safety to come first. That's why they have updated their regulations to require pools to have drain covers. The purpose of the cover is to prevent kids from possibly getting stuck or trapped in them.
Environmental Inspection Director Bridget Faulkenberry says, "It's just an update of the old rules. It wasn't a big sweeping change. It was just as new technology becomes available and as pool accidents are researched they come up with new rules to keep people safe. "
Lubbock's City pools open on Friday, May 26, 2006 at 1 p.m. Hours of operation are Tuesday through Sunday from 1 to 6 p.m. Entrance fees are $1.50 for youth (17 and under) and $2 for adults, and group rates are available for groups of 35 or more. For more information, (click here).
