Six fatal collisions in Lubbock last year involved alcohol. In addition another 331 wrecks were alcohol related. In all, 658 people were arrested for DWI. That's why law enforcement will be cracking down on drunk driving this Memorial Day weekend. It's called Operation DWI Blues. It's designed to save lives. Carole Rawson with TXDOT says, "Even before you go out, make sure to designate a driver for when it's time to go home ask yourself this simple questions, who's driving tonight?" The maximum fine for driving while intoxicated is $2,000 for a first offense. You may also lose your license or be sentenced to jail time.
