Memorial Day 2006

Marine Recruiting Office Keeps Busy

As we honor those killed in action, many men and women are still signing up to serve their country.

The US Marines Corps Recruiting Office in Lubbock tells us they continue to see good recruiting numbers. Many young men and women come into their office telling them they want to serve out of patriotism.

"They tell you its patriotism to want to fight for their rights and to defend the country. They see what we will do on television all the time, and they want to do it as well," Marine Staff Sgt. Ruiz said.

Ruiz also tells NewsChannel 11 he is proud of the patriotism he sees in Lubbock every day. He tells us he's from California and he never had the reception he has here where people constantly tell him thank you for serving.
