UMC Urges Patients to Be Observant - KCBD NewsChannel 11 Lubbock

If any good can come out of this bad situation, it may be that patients will be more observant during their hospital stay. University Medical Center Vice President Greg Bruce says if patients feel uncomfortable about who is visiting their room, they need to inform a nurse.

"If I was a patient, I would be increasingly observant of what is going on in my surroundings and we are probably not going to see not only here but nationwide as a result of this," says Bruce

Bruce says hospitals face a challenge balancing safety and security against the desires of patients. Baby Priscilla was not taken from UMC and Bruce says that is evidence their security system does work.
