Lubbock Sheriff's Office Lubbock Sheriff's Office

A Lubbock County Grand Jury believes there is enough evidence to send John Otis Thornton to trial for murder.  Thornton is accused of killing his mother on the night of April 30th at their home in the 3700 block of east Fourth street.

Thornton first told police that intruders attacked them and stabbed his mother, Glenda. Within hours of her death, Thornton was the one in handcuffs. Police found discrepancies in his story and made the arrest.
