We know sun screen is important to protect against the harmful rays of the sun. But what if you could get that protection from a pill?
That's what Pure Pharmaceuticals is claiming in its new product, the sun pill. But here's what you need to know. It is a dietary supplement that provides a mixture of antioxidants like vitamins A, C, D and E. Even the dermatologist who was hired as a company spokesman says the sun pill is helpful but it's not magic.
"I wouldn't recommend using it without a sunscreen, because it gives you a false sense of protection, together it gives you more protection," said Dr. Perry Robins a Dermatologist.
A thirty day supply of the sun pill is about thirty dollars. So, it's a dollar a pill. Critics say you could probably purchase all those vitamins individually and save some money.
Just remember, the sun pill is not a substitute for sunscreen.
