A new Lubbock neighborhood will be missing something yours probably has... alleys. On Thursday, the Lubbock City Council approved a developer's request to build a neighborhood in west Lubbock without alleys.
The area will be located west of Alcove, one-half mile between 4th and 19th streets. Instead of dump trucks picking up trash in the alleys, these homeowners will leave their trash in a plastic bin along the front curbs.
City Planner Randy Henson told us this type of design saves land and is more cost efficient. This will be the third neighborhood in Lubbock without alleys.
