National Volunteers Working To Improve Housing In Lubbock

They are roofing, hammering and painting homes here in Lubbock and they just have five days to finish. 265 Volunteers from eight states are here this week with one goal in mind: to repair homes in our community. NewsChannel 11's Suleika Acosta shows us how the World Changers are impacting Lubbock residents.

We spent Tuesday morning at 1605 Akron Avenue where 25 volunteers got an early start to their work day. These World Changers are helping refurbish homes for low-income families. The organization brings in volunteers from Baptist churches across the country to help the city improve quality of life for those living in substandard housing.

Since World Changers began in 1991, they have sent more than 70,000 volunteers to repair thousands of homes across the country.
