Dr. Smith Named Finalist for President's Job at a New York University - KCBD NewsChannel 11 Lubbock

Six months after Dr. David Smith stepped down as Chancellor of Texas Tech, another university knocks on his door. State University of New York Upstate Medical University, in Syracuse, is considering Dr. Smith for its president position.

He announced Friday, that he has been named a finalist. The university is located in an area close to where Dr. Smith and his wife Dr. Donna Bacchi met. In a statement he said they are enthusiastic about the possibility of returning to a place they are familiar with.

Dr. Donald Haragan is currently serving as Texas Tech's Interim Chancellor until a permanent replacement is named.
