Dr. John Iacuone has treated eight-thousand patients in his 28 years in Lubbock. But June 17th, he will say goodbye. Dr. Iacuone is currently Chief Medical Officer of Covenant Children's Hospital.
But he is moving to Ft. Meyers, Florida, where he will be Executive Director of the Children's Hospital of Southwest Florida. He has contributed enormously to Lubbock and West Texas. Not just as a pediatrician, or as a lifeline to kids with cancer, his specialty. He has also been teaching pediatrics at the Texas Tech Medical School since 1995, and he has been a special guest in our HealthWise segments for more than 20 years. Even finding time to be a guest reporter in 1998.
Last September, Dr. Iacuone made his prime time debut when he was featured in the NBC show "Three Wishes". He was part of a wish from one of his cancer patients. That landed him center stage in that nationwide broadcast, accepting a check for covenant in his honor.
On Saturday, June 17th, Dr. Iacuone will be center stage again. But this time at a farewell party in the lobby of Covenant Children's Hospital from 2pm to 4pm and you are invited.
Here at NewsChannel 11, we'd like to say... Dr. Iacuone, you will be missed in our HealthWise segments. But best of luck to you and Connie in Florida.
