Lubbock Says Goodbye to Beloved Pediatrician

Thousands across the South Plains said good bye to a very influential person Saturday night.

Covenant Health Systems hosted a goodbye celebration for Dr. John Iacuone. Dr. Iacuone is a pediatrician and is currently the Chief Medical Officer of Covenant Children's Hospital. During Dr. Iacuone's 28 years in Lubbock he's treated 8,000 patients. He says Lubbock has been great to him and today's event was a bitter-sweet moment.

"The people in Lubbock have just opened their hearts and arms to me and it's been a privilege to serve this community for all these years and it's always going to be in my heart," said Dr. Iacuone. "Everything a doctor does is really about relationships and creating those bonds and that's what makes it all worth while for me and it's been worth while for me," he adds.

Dr. Iacuone will head to Fort Myers, Florida where he'll serve as Executive Director for the Children's Hospital of Southwest Florida.
