A Lubbock man accused of killing a 79-year-old will have his day in court next week. Barry Lee Thoms attended a pre-trial hearing at the Lubbock county courthouse Thursday afternoon. He's charged with capital murder in the death of Dorman Shaw.
The crime happened at 2403 56th Street January 1, 2004. Shaw was shot several times at his central Lubbock home. Police arrived to find Thoms running away from the scene. They followed him and fired several shots hitting him four times, after Thoms allegedly raised a gun at police. His trial begins Monday.
