Storms Damage Lubbock Children's Home

Thursday's severe storms sent many seeking cover. When NewsChannel 11 arrived at the Lubbock Children's Home, the kids were just being released from a storm shelter.

Lubbock Children's Home Vice President Vickie Russell says, "When another thunderstorm came up everybody was a little nervous, so we decided we'd go down to the storm shelter and wait it out for a bit and it doesn't hurt to practice."

When the kids came out of the shelter, they saw, uprooted trees and tree branches scattered about. A gazebo was reduced to a pile of lumber. The damage was not entirely from Thursday's storms. The Lubbock Children's Home was still cleaning up from overnight storms when another round hit Thursday afternoon.
