Buddy Holly Image to Make Appearance on Lubbock's North Side

Young artists are bringing a bit of Buddy Holly to Lubbock's north side.

Members of the Up and Coming Scholars have been busy painting a mural on the Optimist Boys and Girls Club building for about three weeks.

The painting will also feature black and white photos of past and future musicians.

We caught up with two of the members who say Holly inspired their musical talents.

Jennifer Sanchez says, "I love his beats and all of his songs, and it's just great. It's hard to learn, but it's great."

"When I heard Buddy Holly's songs, I wanted to be a musician, so I decided to play a viola," says Manuel Lordaz.

Artist Shannon Cannings designed the mural. A dedication ceremony is planned for July seventh at six in the evening.
