Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Southwest exists to create, find and support programs that directly improve the health and well being of children and their families. Our three core programs are the Ronald McDonald House and Ronald McDonald Family Rooms.
The Ronald McDonald House of Lubbock continues to be a cornerstone program of Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Southwest. The House serves as a home-away-from-home for families of critically ill children who are receiving treatment in the local hospitals. More than 500 families are served by the Ronald McDonald House each year. Additionally, the Ronald McDonald House serves as home for the administrative offices of Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Southwest.
Ronald McDonald Family Rooms are an extension of the Ronald McDonald House program. They provide a haven right inside the hospital for families of children undergoing medical treatment. The Family Room provides some of the comforts of home to help alleviate the anxiety of being in a hospital environment. Families use the Family Room to rest, reflect or even freshen up with a shower. Some Family Rooms provide sleeping rooms for those families whose children are so ill that the parents cannot leave the hospital.
During the month of July 2006 Ronald McDonald House will be opening two Family Rooms in Lubbock. A Family Room will be at Covenant Medical Center Hospital and University Medical Center Hospital.
