Jury selection began Monday in the capital murder trial of Barry Thoms. He is accused of killing 79-year-old Dorman Shaw, on New Year's Day, back in 2004.
The shooting happened at a central Lubbock home in the 2400 block of 56th street. Officers found a gun and a large amount of cash at the scene. Investigators believe robbery may have been the motive for the killing.
Prosecutors are not seeking the death penalty.
