Planning Underway for Lubbock Sports Complex

Construction is set to begin in January for a major sports complex project in southwest Lubbock.

The new complex will have twelve youth softball fields, one championship softball field and 56 soccer fields. It's located at Milwaukee and FM 1585.

The Parks and Recreation board met Tuesday to hear a progress report from architects. Parks and Recreation Director Randy Truesdell says, "Funding is in place. It looks good and project estimates are in range with our funding and it looks really positive."

Voters approved funding for the project in a bond package back in 2004.
