The air conditioning that keeps us cool during these hot summer days might also be making us fat. Research from the University of Alabama indicates it's not just fast food. But a list of things driving America's obesity epidemic.
That includes not getting enough sleep, taking certain medications that make you gain weight, giving up cigarettes, and our air conditioned homes. The theory is that people burn energy by keeping their bodies within a certain temperature range.
So now that technology cools our living space, we burn less energy. In fact, they say we tend to eat more when we're cool and comfortable and eat less when we're hot.
