You have to see it to believe it, $7 million worth of stolen goods and now all of it is available to the public.
It's being called the ultimate toy auction, from investor web sites to car magazines, there is high interest in Jonathan Nelson's possessions and $7 million worth is on a Lubbock auction block. Now, for the first time the public is invited to do some window shopping. NewsChannel 11's Jennifer Vogel takes us inside the Town and Country Airport to see what's up for bid.
Sports cars and airplanes, tractors and golf carts sounds like the song,"these are a few of my favorite things." Bobby Love from Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers says, "there are assets here that almost everyone would have an interest in."
Nearly 600 people were interested in the millions of dollars of assets all bought with stolen money. One viewer said, "crime doesn't pay, but I guess it does here." And each person had the same reaction when going through three hangers full of toys.
The total value of everything is about $7 million that will all go to the receivership. The money from the auction will then go back to Patterson UTI. So far, only $30 of the $77 million stolen, has been recovered. Now, it's your turn to get a piece of the pie.
The auction will be a one day only event, held July 15th. If you would like to bid on the items, you must go to the Town and Country Airport to register where you can choose between two different bidder books.
The first book is for large items, like cars, planes, and tractors. If you choose to bid, you will need to put down a $10,000 dollar *refundable* deposit. The second book is for smaller items, like household items, jet skis, and dirt bikes. This requires a $2,000 *refundable* deposit.
The items will be on display daily at the Town and Country Airport, from 8am-7pm until Friday, July 14th.
