For the second time, in three weeks, University Medical Center lost power. A transformer stopped working around 4:30 Monday afternoon, causing the power outage. Lubbock Power and Light restored power to the facility less than two hours later.
You'll recall, the hospital lost power back on June 21st. That time, the power outage was caused when a transformer caught fire near the hospital. In both cases, the back up generator was used to provide electricity to patients. However, the power failure did cause the air conditioning to go out.
