One North Lubbock County house is no longer a home for one family. Fire ripped through the second floor around 5pm Monday afternoon.
Smoke could be seen from a mile away. The family was home at the time, and escaped safely thanks to the quick reaction of their grandchildren.
"(The) grandkids saw smoke coming down the stairway and she got the kids and mother and got out. So, everyone got out safely, but the house is a total loss," Idalou Fire Department Assistant Chief Russ Perkins said.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
