Tuesday morning a Lubbock boy is in stable condition after he was shot while he and two other boys were playing with a gun. NewsChannel 11's Suleika Acosta has been following this story and brings us the latest.
Monday evening around 9:30 two brothers and a neighborhood friend were playing with a shotgun in the backyard of a home at 1703 East 2nd Place. That's when one of the boys was shot in the back.
Police tell us the shot gun pellets only scraped the 10-year old boy and did not penetrate the skin. The boy was taken to UMC where he is listed in stable condition Tuesday morning. Police say the three boys found the gun inside a vehicle. They tell us it was not loaded when they boys found the shot gun. Investigators also found shells in side the car.
Police are still trying to find out how the children got the gun. We'll keep you updated.
