Lubbock and Crosbyton are not the only South Plains cities looking for ways to conserve water. Tuesday, Slaton showed its also trying to secure its water supply.
"We have not had to go into any conservation measures at this time. We have asked our citizens to voluntarily look at curtailing use," said Slaton City Administrator Roger McKinney.
On Tuesday, the Slaton City Council passed a resolution to buy and participate in additional water rights financed by the Canadian Municipal Water Authority or CRMWA. CRMWA will also have to approve the decision during its meeting Wednesday.
