Boy Recovering After Pit Bull Attack

Family members say a 10-year-old boy is doing fine after a pit bull attack this weekend. The dog is under quarantine at the Lubbock Animal Shelter. If a dangerous dog hearing is requested, the dog could be removed from the community or put to sleep. Of course, the owner can appeal any decision.

The victim's family is focusing on the child's recovery. The incident happened Sunday night in the 4600 block of 94th street, near the Lakeridge Country Club Golf Course. Some kids who with the boy at the time of the attack tell NewsChannel 11 the whole thing was frightening. Gabi Colon says, "Like it tried to snap at his hand, but then he like pulled it away, but then it got his arm up here, and then he fell back, and it got him on the leg."

The owner was taking the dog for a walk at the time. We're told it was on a leash.
