Defibrillators In Lubbock Schools

LISD trustees have entered into a five-year agreement with the Health Department to provide a safety net for sudden cardiac arrest on school grounds. It was announced July 20th that sometime this fall, 22 automated external defibrillators, or AEDs, will be placed at certain Lubbock schools.

"This was a grant received through the city of Lubbock, through the Health Department and certainly we are excited about being involved with that; they will be on our secondary campuses because that is where the large groups are, at our high schools at those events," says Wayne Havens the LISD superintendent.

These portable defibrillators can save lives since they provide easy to use verbal instructions on what to do if someone falls victim to a heart attack.
