Grand Jury Declines to Indict In Taser Related Death

There will be no charges associated with the death of Juan Nunez III.  A grand jury made that decision late Tuesday afternoon.

Nunez died at this home back in April after being tased by police. Police reports indicate Nunez acted violently toward Officer Matt Doherty, forcing him to use his taser. Nunez was tased four times. An autopsy showed a combination of the tasing, an injury to the head and alcohol intoxication contributed to Nunez's death. Autopsy reports showed Nunez's blood alcohol level to be .22, nearly three times the legal limit.

The Nunez family has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the City of Lubbock.
