Investigators Try to Identify Remains Found at Lake Alan Henry

Investigators are trying to determine the identity of a body found at Lake Alan Henry. According to the Garza County Sheriff's Department, the skeletal remains, with clothing, rose to the surface. They were discovered at Lake Alan Henry just after 7:00 p.m. Monday night.

Investigators believe they may belong to a Brownfield man. Aaron Smith has been missing since a boating accident at Lake Alan Henry more than a year ago.  The 40-year old was thrown into the water when two boats collided during a fishing tournament. His body was never found.

The Lubbock Medical Examiner's office expects to receive the body Wednesday. The identification process will begin in the coming days. They will likely use dental records or DNA samples.
