Cotton Kings Propose Lease Negotiation With City

A lease negotiation with the Cotton Kings could cost the city nearly $180,000. The South Plains Professional Hockey Club is requesting changes in their lease agreement at the Lubbock Municipal Coliseum.

If approved, it would waive rental fees per game and the rent due for the 2005-2006 season. The city would sell the ice resurfacing machine to the club for $1. The club would get concession and advertising or program sales commissions. The hockey club would pay for game day utilities. The city would pay the club a $150,000 plus economic grant.

The Lubbock City Council tabled a vote Tuesday and will continue to discuss the proposal.
