When it first opened in 1973, it was the largest cotton gin in the world.
Heethe Burleson with Associated Cotton Growers says, "Our five to ten year average is about 65,000 bales. The last two years have been incredible with 110,000 bales the year before that and last year 85,000."
Associated Cotton Growers is a merger between the Crosbyton, Wake and McAdoo co-op gins. They clean the cotton and take out the lint and seed before packing it into 500 pound bales. Once it's sold, the money goes to the co-op farmers.
